Lots of us find it uncomfortable to be still. Meditation helps us practice simply being and allows us to connect with a way of self that’s not depending on our productivity. Help yourself or others experience greater presence with this stillness meditation script.

Typically, the mind is preoccupied with the past or the long run. We busy ourselves with to-do lists and derive our sense of self-worth from how much we’re getting done. But the reality is, we’re worthy just as we’re and this moment is enough, just because it is.

Meditation will help us remember there’s nothing that needs doing before peace, contentment and inner calm might be realized. Actually, if we could just rest back and embrace stillness, we may find that it is less complicated to connect with the sense of spaciousness we crave.

Here’s a Sample of the “Let Yourself Simply Be With This Stillness Meditation” Guided Meditation Script:

Discover a quiet place wherein to take a cushty seat
Sit up tall and shut your eyes
Breathe patiently and fully, yet gently and quietly
Out and in through your nose

Give yourself permission to do nothing
Give yourself permission to embrace this moment of stillness
By which there’s nothing in any respect that should be done
Apart from staying here, relatively still, watching the breath

As you watch breath with a simple, relaxed, spacious mind
Place some small amount of attention on what else the mind or the body is feeling

Notice your individual discomfort in simply being present, doing nothing

Notice if the mind would quite run off towards the long run, a to-do list, or planning

Notice if the mind would quite busy itself with reviewing the past, or pondering

And every time you notice, acknowledge the pull of movement, of distraction
After which with the loving patience of a compassionate elder
Give your mind permission to rest

Help the mind settle, be at peace, be still
By guiding towards awareness of body and breath

Without pondering of breath
Present with breath

Without pondering of body
Present with body

This stillness meditation script is for all those that would profit from permitting themselves to do nothing for a moment, to easily be still. Mindfulness meditation offers the practice and mild encouragement we’d like to beat our discomfort with doing nothing.

To make use of this meditation script in your individual practice, familiarize yourself with the intent. Or, sit with the script in meditation, occasionally glancing down on the words as you practice presence with their meaning.

This script may also be used to guide others, in one-on-one sessions or in a bunch. Guided meditation scripts might be utilized in live sessions, or to record audio or video meditations. Guiding a practice live permits you to introduce the meditation with a conversation about common barriers to stillness, or close the meditation by letting others share their experience.

During any guided meditation, some might find it quite difficult to be still, and that’s okay. Our meditation is a practice wherein all that arises is welcome. If we repeatedly return to this be still meditation, we’d find that over time, our experience of it changes.

On this present moment, contentment, clarity and calm can be found. But a mind that’s up to now or future often fails to appreciate this. We’re too busy chasing calm to permit it to arise. This stillness meditation helps ground us in the current moment. By doing nothing but just being, we make space for what’s good to disclose itself. Encourage someone to rest back and connect with the reality that who they’re is just perfect, and there’s nothing that should be done.
